World's second AbioCor heart patient to
meet the press
Surgeons say Tom Christerson continues
to improve
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - As Tom Christerson,
the world's second AbioCor Implantable Replacement Heart
patient reaches the six-month milestone, University of Louisville
surgeons Laman Gray, M.D., and Rob Dowling, M.D., will introduce
him at a press conference at 3:30 p.m. (EST) on March 12. In a
landmark surgery at Jewish Hospital on Sept. 13, Tom Christerson
became the second person in the world to receive the AbioCor,
manufactured by ABIOMED, Inc., of Danvers, Mass.
The event will take place in the Conference
Center at the Rudd Heart and Lung Building on the Jewish Hospital
Medical Campus. The news conference agenda will include an update
by Drs. Gray and Dowling and a question and answer period with
Mr. Christerson.
