LOUISVILLE SURGEONS PLAN UPDATE
ON STATUS OF FIRST ABIOCOR PATIENT
(LOUISVILLE) - The University of Louisville surgeons
who implanted the world's first totally implantable replacement
heart in Bob Tools at Jewish Hospital on July 2 announced today
that they will update the public on Mr. Tools' condition on Wednesday,
November 14 at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Dr. Laman Gray reported a major setback for Mr. Tools,
which "began with the onset of weakness in the right side of
his body."
Additional details regarding the patients enrolled
in the Jewish Hospital/University of Louisville AbioCor clinical
trial will not be available until the news briefing.
Dr. Gray and Dr. Robert Dowling will give a full update
on Mr. Tools' current diagnosis and prognosis tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
EST in the Conference Center atop the Rudd Heart and Lung Center
on the Jewish Hospital campus.
